It is to Asparagasm what fennel was to Dionysus. These bright, verdant tickling sticks literally bristle with dynamic pleasure; the intricate filigree of its tip one of nature’s finest works – and now it’s in season, well so are we!

In an indulgent celebration of this most versatile of vegetables, Asparagasm presents the ‘Rites of May’ on Thursday 23rd May at studio Gi.

We’ll be ritualising asparagus in every course as Chef Fredrik Bolin explores its dishy flavours in a 5-course vegan and gluten-free journey following welcome ‘Maiden’s Blush’ cocktails courtesy of Pernod Absinthe.

We’ve creative and irreverent folk art fun with special guests Lemonade & Laughing Gas and the Morris-sey Dancers, live music from the extraordinary Yeti Love and vegan real ale samplings from our guest supplier of the month, Stroud Brewery.

Featuring an exclusive menu of mock & cock-tails, vegan-method wine and beer – Running Duck from Stellar Vineyard and hand-crafted lager from Freedom Brewery – as well as biodynamic champagne and organic British bubbles will also be served.

All great films end in rapture but our next Asparagasm plants an ‘Emerald Kiss’ courtesy of Pernod Absinthe right in the opening sequence as we celebrate ‘Green Magic’ at the verdant studio Gi in E9 on Thursday 25th April.

We’ve room for 60 of you gorgeous munchkins at our 5-course fine dining event when our culinary wizards headed up by guest chef Fredrik Bolin, Head Chef at Disappearing Dining Club, will create a vegan and gluten-free rainbow from somewhere over in the open kitchen.

We’ve performance from the bewitching Miss Stephanie Ware and friends, as well as Dark Chocolate Tiffin to sample from the scrumptious vegan and gluten-free Lazy Day Bakery.

Featuring an exclusive menu of mock & cock-tails hand-mixed by Lefti Christodolou, one of London’s finest bar tenders, vegan-method wine and beer – Running Duck from Stellar Vineyard and hand-crafted lager from Freedom Brewery – as well as biodynamic champagne and organic British bubbles will also be served.

Relax and come as you are – however should you wish to wear your brains, courage or hearts on your sleeve then fabulous prizes for sartorial creativeness will be bestowed.

2013′s year of the Water Snake heralds a time for adventure and risk taking – which means it’s time for a gung-ho Asparagasm! Just as the first new shoots reclaim our senses after the long, cold winter we’ll be springing a five-course fine dining vegan and gluten-free journey at ‘Eats Shoots & Leaves’ on Friday 1st March at the seductive White Rabbit Studios in Shoreditch.

Sip welcome ‘Snake Eye’ cocktails, a sublime infusion of absinthe and jasmine, courtesy of Pernod Absinthe; sup from our European fine dining menu, inspired by the five elemental tastes of the Orient – sweet, sour, salty, bitter and pungent, and sway to the electrogasmic strains of Max Pashm’s Swing beats as we evoke the East in vintage Shanghai Deco style.

Our fantastic chef du jour, Jason Loveridge, and our creative partners at Disappearing Dining Club will be working from an open kitchen preparing both individual dishes and a sharing-style main course.

With creative input from Lemonade & Laughing Gas expect some good Geisha fortune with prizes for best in show at the Mung Vase make-and-do and, as usual, there will be a surprise performance for your just desserts. Rabbit Hole Vegan Hair design will also be on hand to twirl your tresses into a chignon a la chinois and you can pick up ethical hair products at their pop-up shop for men and women who love to live life carefree.

Asparagasm presents ‘Burns Baby Burns’ – a night of feasting, poetry and tartan-tastic turns

When Asparagasm was a wee bairn her beloved Uncle George, a burly big-hearted Borthwick (bless his sweet soul), was in his Bells-soaked element come ‘Rubby Buns’ night. In his thick Scottish brogue he’d read me poetry I understood not at all.

However, I was in thrall with the concept that by simply rubbing buns some celtic magic would be unleashed. As it turned out Burns night was no less fantastical when my naivety was finally spiked and I’ve had the pleasure to attend some wild homages to Robert Burns over the years.

On the day before the baird’s birthday, Thursday 24th January, we will be celebrating Asparagasm style with whisky tastings followed by the ceremonial arrival of a vegan haggis, neeps and tatties and a vegan and gluten-free pudding spectacular.

Pipe up if you’d like to attend this poetic caper! It will be our great pleasure to rub buns with you at our first fling of 2013

“We’ve surely now embraced the encroaching winter season. You know the one, where it’s going to be mostly grey and cold outside for quite some time. But it’s time to lighten up, dust down your disco shoes and get your sparkle back on”.

The ‘Seasonally Affected Ball’ is the last Asparagasm of the year with dining and dancing in those sexy White Rabbit studios in Shoreditch on Friday 30th November.

There will be Twisted Mojitos courtesy of Pernod Absinthe on arrival followed by a colourful, seasonally inspired 5-course vegan and wheat-free dining journey created in partnership with our enlightened friends at Disappearing Dining Club.

After the feast we’ll be getting hot and sticky with a rock-star-amazing vegan and gluten-free cake creation from Black Cherry Bakery and our favourite sequinned goddess, Anna Greenwood (Resident DJ with Guilty Pleasures) will be on show to administer an extra hit of sugary disco endorphins.

As well as curious performance and happenings with Lemonade & Laughing Gas, we have guest brands in the Glitter Mall including ATTIC Tea and, lest we forget, a Vegazzling contest with some fabulous prizes for those who can create a dazzling riot out of a root.

Asparagasm gathered fine momentum at the Hot Harvest Festival but with the advent of the cold weather we’re starting to feel VERY hungry again.

This month it’s time to get intimate before our next big, sparkly culinary parade, the ‘Seasonally Affected Ball’ on November 30th at White Rabbit. It’s time to huddle at one of our favourite haunts to indulge and feast on plush seasonal pickings. Seduced by intoxicating incense and cooking aromas carried on swirls of mist (… any excuse to break out the dry ice), this month’s Asparagasm is well-intentioned; spiritual healing to nourish your soul and soothe your temples as we saunter into winter.

Our courtesy cauldrons of heavenly concoctions suffused with berries and Pernod Absinthe precede a 5-course quest in vegan and wheat-free dining. While chef Jason Loveridge still has us under his spell, we yearn to discover what he will be conjuring up this month. One thing’s for sure – there will be no. fucking. pumpkin. risotto. Them’s the rules.

From the drinks menu we present vegan-method organic brew, flirty British bubbles, a charismatic and biodynamic champagne and from the new world, Running Duck, deliciously fruity fine wines with great ethics.

Asparagasm returns on Friday 28th September in a risqué celebration of the Harvest Festival in the atmospheric environs of the White Rabbit studio arches in Shoreditch.  

Indulge in a five-course fine dining vegan journey featuring seasonal and organic produce and welcome ‘Green Beast’ cocktails courtesy of Pernod Absinthe. The drinks menu includes British bubbles and vegan red and white wine from ethical South African vintners Running Duck.

At the cheese board sideshow sample a trio of vegan cheeses and artisan gluten-free crackers from Saf Restaurant and yes, there will be no. fucking. risotto.

As well as a unique performer element, art installations and visuals from Lemonade & Laughing Gas guests are also invited to bring erotic vegetable offerings to the harvest altar. Best in show will be crowned the ‘Green Beast’ and dinner and drinks will be on the house.

  We’ll be working in partnership with Disappearing Dining Club to produce this event and are thrilled to welcome back Michelin-trained chef, Jason Loveridge, who is challenged to see if he can create another outstanding 5-course vegan journey to yet more rapturous applause.

Your dinner booking also permits free admission to a late night cocktail bar event which will be taking place in an adjoining arch afterwards.

Asparagasm – an indulgent supperclub for vegans, vegetarians and anyone.

A fine dining six-course vegan tasting menu courtesy of all-round top chef, Jason Loveridge, will grace the tables of the inaugural ASPARAGASM on Thursday 26th July.

Asparagasm is an indulgent meat-free and wheat-free supperclub. It’s an aspirational and social experience for vegans, vegetarians and anyone and everyone who likes to see seasonal British produce take a starring role at dinner time.

This aint a wholefood experience. This is unabashed indulgence accompanied by a welcome cocktail, fine vegan house wines and other guest brands we think you will like to try out or know more about.    Our event and dining partners are the fabulous London supperclub behemoths, Disappearing Dining Club.

We will be co-hosting the first Asparagasm at their secretly seductive and recently-launched, hidden dining space, Back In 5 Minutes.  One sitting, 7pm arrivals for 7.30pm dining.   Seating just 30 diners at three large tables this is a social dining event.

A suggested price for the launch menu, welcome drinks and wine is £35 per head, but a ‘pay what you like’ honesty scheme will also apply in exchange for your feedback.   

Asparagasms take place on the last Thursday or Friday of the month and may move location to keep things as fresh as the vegetables!
